Elijah loves to feed the dog. Every time we put the dog’s food out, Elijah likes to dump it out and hand feed it to Plato. Plato doesn’t seem to mind at all.

Valentine’s Day Cookies
Elijah helped me make some Valentine’s Day cookies. He had his very own rolling pin and cookie cutter. It wasn’t long before he figured out how delicious the dough was and gave up on the rolling.
Elijah’s buddy Jackson came over to help us decorate the cookies. Really all they did was eat the icing. They didn’t even eat the cookies, just the icing. And then Elijah started ripping up the wax paper and Jackson thought it was the funniest thing. He laughed and laughed and then joined in the fun.
Mmmm, icing.
11 week belly pic
I’m actually 13 weeks now but this photo was taken at 11 weeks. I’m a bit behind in my posting. There will be no bare belly shots this time around. I have no idea what I was thinking last time. Even I don’t want to see that.
For comparison’s sake, here is my 12 week belly shot when I was pregnant with Elijah. Significantly smaller.
Big Brother to Be
That’s right! Elijah is going to be a big brother!

Elijah has liked to put blankets on his head since he was a baby. One of his favorite games is to put a blanket on his head and walk around and bump into things. Seriously. (By the way Katie, he loves this blanket! It is his new favorite. Thanks so much!)
Blizzard 2011
Boy are we tired of the snow. We experienced our first blizzard this year. This was the view out our front door. The photos really don’t do it justice. The mound up against the fence at the back of the photo is really a 2.5 foot tall flower bed.
Back porch, the lump on the right is a trash can. The snow almost came up to the top.
After they cleared the walkways the boys went out to play.
Aaron attempting to build a snow wall.
We would later bury him in this position.
Thank goodness it is finally starting to melt. I think it will be another month before it is all gone.
New Year’s 2011
Christmas 2010
I just love Christmas time. We could have used a little bit more snow in KC but other than that it was a great time!
Santa Elijah with Grandma and Grandpa.
Playing Wii with daddy. Ok playing with the remote. Buttons are much more fun than video games.
We had a quick visit with my high school BFF Hayley who was almost ready to pop! She gave birth to her son Mason in January!! Congrats Hayley!
Little boy, big hat.
Hurshman Christmas Party
I’m not trying to open these doors, nope, not me.
Oh boy! A Thomas book!
Brand new “choo choo”
Elijah’s first taste of Grandma Jean’s famous cinnamon rolls! Mmmm, he is a true Hurshman.
Christmas Eve family portrait.
Stockings laid out on the fireplace with a cinnamon roll for Stanta and carrots for the reindeer.
Christmas morning, holy presents!
Playing with trains while waiting for Uncle Matt and Aunt Andrea to arrive.
Elijah mug!
So in love!
Christmas afternoon we headed to the Tyree’s for yet another Christmas celebration. Elijah just had to get his fingers on a real piano. Just like his daddy, he can’t pass up the opportunity.
More fun that playing, opening and shutting the lid.
Playing the organ with Great-Grandpa Alan (pushing buttons)
This was actually my stocking when I was a baby.
Christmas was so much fun. Next year will be exciting when he understand more about it. 🙂
Union Station – Kansas City
We spent Christmas in Kansas City this year with my family. Elijah adores trains so a trip to Union Station was in order! Elijah’s favorite book this winter was The Polar Express, likely because of the subject matter, no doubt. He was very excited about this poster and kept pointing and saying “Choo Choo”.
Giant train painting.
The first model train we came to. Fascinated!

The Polar Express up close!
Lot’s of trains, you get it.
An attempt at a family portrait. All he wanted was Grandma.
That’s better thank you.
And then, tucked in corner we stumbled upon none other than Thomas the Train himself! Oh boy, this was big.
We stood here for probably 20 minutes at least watching the trains go in circles.
Other kids came and went, Elijah stayed.
A Thomas painting
Percy was there too!
Union Station was a blast, can’t wait until next year.
Christmas in Oak Park
The Zimmerman clan headed to Oak Park to celebrate Christmas before we headed to Kansas City. It is nice that we are only a 4 hour drive away. To say that we were squished in this tiny apartment is an understatement. Somehow, we managed to squeeze 7 people in 1100 sqft, and a whole lot of presents.
Below Elijah is opening one of his many gifts.
Elmo was a big hit! He loves Elmo, though he can’t pronounce his name correctly. It sounds like “bebo”.
Matching Blackhawks jerseys for Elijah and Daddy!
Grandpa guy made these blocks for Elijah out of their old birch tree. He loves them and plays with them every single day.
His favorite place to be, on Grandpa’s lap with a choo choo.
