Family Weekend

Aaron’s mom Janet came into town this weekend to go to the dance competition and to visit with Zimmerbaby. While her visit was short I think the two had some good bonding time. Zimmerbaby even busted out a few kicks for her on Saturday. She also brought with her tons of baby stuff left over from the holidays that we couldn’t fit in the car. The baby’s closet is jam-packed and we haven’t even had a shower yet.

Go Jackets!

Aaron’s sister Rachael had a dance competition this weekend at Benedictine College.  The Graceland Gadets were awesome and placed 3rd out of 7 in the small dance category.  I busted out the vintage Gadets 2002-2003 t-shirt for the occasion.  I love that Rachael is a Gadet and that we get to share our love for dance.  It is fun to see them wearing warm up jackets that I ordered back in the day.  But I have to say the best part was watching the girls stand in a circle, right legs pointed to center, pinkies locked and passing the thumb kiss.  This tradition may sound a little strange but my fellow Gadets should appreciate the reference.   Go Jackets!

26 week belly pic

Here we are at the end of 26 weeks. This is what I like to call the “weekend look”. The baby is moving like crazy and i’m having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions. I continue to get lots of comments, mostlly from co-workers about the size of my stomach. “Are you sure there’s only one in there?” “You look really big for 26 weeks.” But then other mama’s tell me I look normal. I’m measuring right on schedule as of my last prenatal but my best frame of reference is my birth class. We are the youngest (due the latest) out of all 8 couples, so I get to watch all of their bellies grow. I figure as long as I am the smallest in the group things must be ok.

Hi folks, Zimmerbaby again.  Noises are becoming clearer this week.  I’m starting to recognize voices.  Before I just heard a lot of jumble but now clear patterns and voice structures are starting to emerge.  There is one particularly deep voice that I hear on a regular basis.  I kind of like this voice and look forward to hearing it.

High School Buddies

Last night I got together with two of my best friends from high school, Carrody and Hayley. Hayley and I have been pretty good at staying in touch. Carrody and I have kept up from time to time over the years but it had been a long time. We randomly ran into each other several months ago at Babies R Us and found out we were both pregnant. We’ve been trying to get together ever since. Last night we finally did. Here is a pic of our growing bellies. She is 37 weeks and I’m 25. Unfortunately Hayley was behind the camera so we didn’t get a shot of her. It was so great to see you both!  Side note, I think i’ll not be wearing this sweater again.  Yikes!

Hello again from Zimmerbaby! You know, it seems as though my skin is quite wrinkly.  It folds all over the place.  Hopefully it won’t be like this forever.  As I go about my day I flip all over the place, but I’m starting to get a sense that there is a force, if you will, that helps me tell the difference between up and down.  I am starting to prefer to rotate one way or the other more than just free floating in any direction that feels best.  For some reason upside seems to feel nice.  Yes, I think I am starting to prefer that position.  We’ll see though.

Goodbye Corolla, HELLO Highlander!

Well my poor little 95 Corolla decided to kick the bucket on Thursday.  So we decided to go ahead and buy a “family” sized car a little bit earlier than planned.  For the past year I couldn’t have given a rip about this little toothpaste green car.  But having to say goodbye, I found myself a teeny bit sentimental.  The Corolla and I have been through many trips to Graceland, Chicago and Ohio and back.  We’ve been through a lot together.  I was a sad day to say the least.  But exciting at the same time because we bought a shiny new Highlander.

Hello Zimmerbaby here. Not a lot going on lately. The cave is getting tighter. I’m finding it is difficult to maneuver myself around without bouncing on the walls a great deal. I’ve started to notice that I can taste. Suddenly things that flow in and out of my mouth have a slight flavor to them. This new added bonus certainly makes life a bit more interesting in here.
