Well folks, i’m out of here

Zimmerbaby here. There comes a time in every Zimmerbaby’s life when you just have to hit the open road and see what else is out there. I think theres an opening up ahead and if I squirm enough I think I can make it. I’ve got to make my move, you know. I’m like Tom Hanks in that movie where he makes friends with a volleyball and whatnot, at some point you just gotta hit the open water and go for it.
I cant be sure what’s on the other side of this cave, but these walls just can’t contain me any longer. I’m not sure if i’ll have internet access on the other side, but if i do you can be sure i’ll keep you posted on my new adventures.

Zimmerbaby’s First Outfit

You know how people pick out special outfits to bring their baby home from the hospital in? Well I decided that Zimmerbaby shouldn’t be left out of this fun tradition. So I picked out a cute little outfit yesterday at Gymboree that will be the first thing we put him/her in. The onesie says “Sweet Pea” on it and the little hat has pea pods all over it. My mom used to call me “Sweet Pea” when I was little so I thought it was perfect.

Birth Tub Wet Run

As I mentioned before we’re planning a home birth. A cool option when giving birth at home is water birth in a birth tub. Water has lots of benefits during the birth process including relaxation, greater comfort and mobility, reduction of pressure, energy conservation, pain minimalization, and reduced blood pressure among others. We picked up our birth tub from our midwife this week. It is important to do a “wet run” to ensure that everything works and to time how long it takes to fill up etc. So last night was the wet run and it went very well.

Here is the tub straight out of the bag.

Aaron plugging in the pump.

And presto in about 90 seconds we have a birth tub.  It is amazingly strong.  I can sit on the side of it and it holds my weight.

It was clean but I wanted to clean it out one more time.  Just so I knew it had been done to my satisfaction.  Sorry about the bare belly. I basically live with my shirt up at home these days, it is so much more comfortable.  I forgot that it was up when the pic was shot.

Prior to filling it up we realized that we’d forgotten to put the tarp down.  Oops.  Luckily we rememebered.  We didn’t need it, it’s more of a precaution.  Anyway it took about an hour and a half to fill up but we had the water running very slow so the water tank would have time to heat back up again.  In order to fill it up you just run a hose from the bathroom sink.

Of course I had to get in and test it out!  Again sorry for the bare belly shot.  I know it doesn’t look like it but I am wearing a bathing suit on the lower half.

Plato was so curious.  He kept standing up on his hind legs so he could try to see what we were doing with this crazy blue contraption.

This was the first time during the pregnancy when i’ve been able to completely submerse in water.  It felt soooooooo good.  All of the pressure of carrying this big belly around was gone.  I could move easily and sit in positions I can’t do outside of water.  It was so relaxing!  Getting out was no fun.  I stood up and gravity set in.  I couldn’t believe how heavy my stomach felt afterwards.  The nice part is that the next time I get in hopefully there won’t be a baby in my belly anymore when I get out!

I bet your wondering how to get the water out.  It’s actually the easiest part.  Just run the hose in to the toliet and the water siphons down the drain.  Neat huh?

38 weeks old

Hi there, it’s Zimmerbaby.  I’m still stuck in my really small cave.  Yes stuck.  I can’t seem to figure out how to get out.  I keep sticking my foot out as hard as I can hoping that my cave will pop but to no avail.  Perhaps I’ll just have to stay in here forever. Humph.

Iced Tea Addiction

I am addicted to iced tea.  I cannot get enough.  I make myself a pitcher each day and keep it at my desk at work.  It is so yummy and refreshing.  My favorite kind is the Celestial Seasonings Fruit Tea Sampler. Delicious!

Makenzie’s Wedding

Makenzie, a friend of mine from college and fellow Solah sister got married Saturday night.  It was a beautiful wedding!  Below is a pic of me, Zimmerbaby and the beautiful bride.

More Solah sisters!  The great thing about a black dress is you can’t really see how huge and pregnant I am.

Me and Aaron, I love this picture.  We had a wonderful time at the wedding.  It was hard not being able to get up and shake my bootie on the dance floor, but in the scheme of things, it is a small price to pay.

37 week belly pic

We’re hangin in there at 37 weeks. My belly feels so heavy. You can tell in the head on shot how crooked my belly is. The baby spends most of its time on my right. It’s little foot pokes my upper right side all day long. It’s awesome!
